Skylights have a few key considerations when selecting which product is right for your application – the use of the room, the existing airflow, the general temperature of the space amongst other things.
Choosing between opening and fixed comes down to a)is the room a wet area…if so evaporation release is needed (b) Does the room have existing windows that provide adequate ventilation? (c) Is the room a heat trap…e.g at the top of a flight of stairs. In those instances an opening roof window is the best solution.
Skylights that are fixed are best utilised when you are trying to improve light in an already well ventilated zone.
